[Basic] The Sabbath Day (2) - What Day is the Sabbath Day?

The Sabbath Day (2)

What Day is the Sabbath Day?

If someone claims to be God's people he has to know when the true service should be made according to the Bible. All Christians acknowledge that God created the heavens and the earth and all creatures and rested on the seventh day from all His work and designated it as Sabbath Day to be holy and blessed.

In the Old Testament times God wanted to set apart His people from the other peoples, holy and godly, by keeping His commands including the Sabbath Day so that they can get the blessings and not fell into the destruction.

Ex 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy."

The Sabbath Day is the seventh day. God's people know it. Okay! Then what day is the Sabbath Day, in keeping it every week? There are many way to prove the exact day of the Sabbath.

First of all we can find out the day of Sabbath from the calendar. On the calendar, there're seven days and it has the name respectively such as Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. When we look into the first day on the calendar, it is Sunday and the seventh day Saturday. No one disprove it, rather should accept it. Thus the Sabbath should be Saturday, not Sunday.

And when we search the definition of the name of day in the dictionary, we come to understand that the seventh day of the week is Saturday, whereas Sunday is the first day of the week.

Mk 16:9 When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.

Lastly, when we look into the Bible to find out when the Sabbath Day is, we learn that it is Saturday, not Sunday. The First Coming Jesus resurrected on the first day of the week, that was the Resurrection Day on the Sunday, which was described as the day after the Sabbath Day, so the day before Sunday must be Saturday. It makes perfect sense!
